Stores in Moulton will offer part time service on Monday July 4 and close at 10:00 a.m. for the day. Post office will open only for boxholders and banks will be closed. Food stores and others will have a holiday period, with residents urged to shop Saturday to allow early closing.
State Department urges Fourth of July picnic safety noting bacteria grow quickly in warm July weather. Emphasizes proper cooling and refrigeration, hygienic handling, washing produce, and keeping foods hot or cold to prevent illness or death. Warns against large quantities stored even when refrigerated and calls food poisoning no picnic.
Moulton Cafe will relocate to the Masonic building on July 10, owner Max Moulton says. The former Eagle Furniture Store space will house the cafe in its new quarters.
The Moulton Chamber of Commerce met at city hall last night to outline plans for the forthcoming Jamoree. More details will be provided next week.

Mr and Mrs Grant Stansberry announce the approaching marriage of their daughter Joyce Ann to Gary Ridenour son of Mr and Mrs Gale Ridenour of Des Moines. The ceremony will be at Moulton Methodist Church at 2 00 pm on Sunday July 10.

Saturday June 25 1955 at the Methodist church in Moulton a double ring ceremony united Miss Shirley Ann Spurgeon and Edward Fowler. Maid of honor Jean Forsythe and bridesmaids Fern Kelley wore lavender and yellow gowns. attendants included Jack and Herman Fowler. The bride wore a white nylon tulle gown with chantilly lace, pearl necklace, and carried red roses. Parents and family described. reception details incomplete.
Harold Henshaw, 38, a well known Udell farmer, shot himself with a .22 rifle Sunday night. Found Monday at 11:00 am across a bed in his Farm Home. Coroner says he acted in despondency recent weeks. two shotgun shells fired suggest possible attempt with a shotgun. Survived by wife, one daughter, two sons, and parents. Funeral at Centerville, burial Oakland cemetery near Moulton. Rev. Richard Burger presided.
Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Ewing, Mrs. Bernard Casady and their son are visiting the Raymond Bennett home in Beeville Texas.
A church reception featured the bride and groom after the ceremony. The bride wore powder blue and white, with red rose corsage, and a three tiered cake topped by miniature bells and doves. Guests included out of town attendees from Des Moines Ottumwa Bloomfield Floris What Cheer and more.
The fifth annual Harry Moulton reunion gathered at Orris and (Mrs.) Harrington’s home in Moulton. Attendees included numerous Moulton relatives from Des Moines Ottumwa Burlington and Blomfield with plans for an next year gathering in Burlington at Merle Moulton’s home.
Glenn Eagle who has run a furniture store alongside his funeral service in Moulton has discontinued the furniture business and will devote full time to the funeral service. He has closed out the remaining stock.
Mr and Mrs Lloyd Ellis of Tularosa New Mexico will celebrate their golden anniversary on Saturday July 2 with a large gathering of relatives. Ellis a retired minister and former Iowa politician moved to Tularosa from Des Moines after visiting and liking the village. The couple natives of Iowa have two daughters and several relatives attending along with friends from Moulton and Rapid City. An anniversary dinner will be served at 1 pm at their home with Rev Grady McCullough from Tularosa as a guest.
Miss Nancy Cox returned from a vacation at Whipholt Minnesota. Mr and Mrs Don McConville and family of West Covina California visited his sister Mrs Elmer Lee Cox. James Kirkpatrick and wife returned from a Ozarks vacation. Leon Andrews and son David attended a ball game in St Louis. Mrs Alva Stubblefield came back from St Louis for a few days before returning to Wellsville Missouri. She and her daughter Judy attended a Brace family reunion at the home of her sister Mrs Herman Delaloye on Alton Lake near Granite City Illinois.
Rev J W Robbins announced from the pulpit last Sunday his plan to move from his Moulton pastorate between now and early September. The move was made official after a meeting with church officials. Since arriving in December 1953 he led a re decoration and improved finances through the Gods Acre plan. Mrs Robbins taught locally but did not sign a new contract. No location for future ministry is yet decided, with offers from Oklahoma, Texas and other areas.
The Bonaparte baseball team beat the Moulton Indees 10 to 2 on the local diamond last Sunday afternoon. Bonaparte overwhelmed Moulton with power and control while the locals look to rebound this Sunday against a strong Seymour team at 2:00 PM.
Miss Marie Trimble daughter of Howard Trimble Coatsville Missouri married Marvin Stansberry son of Ernest Stansberry in a ceremony at Moulton Methodist Church last Wednesday night conducted by Rev Edward Philgreen with Mr and Mrs Glen Morrow as attendants. The couple will reside on a farm south of town.
Mrs Earl Brown leads the intermediate MYF camp at Camp Darling this week for the district. Attendees from Moulton include Max Archer David Brown and Mary Jane Howard and Barbara Moulton of Bloomfield.
Tuesday evening at the Burl McClure Legion Post the Junior Auxiliary held its officer installation. Centerville Junior Unit officers led the ritual with Mary Carpenter as installing officer and Judy Coulter, Judy Deahl, Rosemary Dooley, and Pattey Brewer assisting. Local girls Sandra Watkins presided, Jill Stansberry vice presided, Janie Howard secretary, Suela Eby treasurer, Lynn Daniels chaplain, Kay Howell historian, Linda Davis sergeant at arms. Bingo and refreshments followed.
Mrs Ralph Spurgeon and son Denny of Moline Illinois visit sister Mrs Dick Bogle. Mrs Stuart Mace in Mt Pleasant for a W S C S work school. Mr and Mrs Alva Bennett vacationing at Kenora Canada. Otis Edwards Bill Edwards and families visit Rev Richard Bentzinger in Cantril and enjoy a picnic at Lacey Park near Keosauqua.
