Freedom topic at June club meeting discussed

A community club in Wisconsin held a June meeting focused on Freedom. Mrs. Clyde Evans spoke on rights from the Sermon on the Mount to women’s suffrage, urging study of the Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence. The group discussed July plans and a county fair booth, with an outdoor cookery lesson to follow.

O H M Club Opens New Year with Bernice Harris

The O H M club met June 30 in Orange to mark fifteen years of activity. Fern Stull led the opening with hymns, a 15th Psalm reading, and a roll call reveal of travel and picnic stories. Members received new year books, quilt finishing materials were purchased, and various prizes were awarded before a prayer and social hour. July 18 will feature host Mary Ann Fine.

Time for July and August burglaries in Iowa

More than 1500 U S homes will be burglarized each day during July and August, a federal FBI estimate. J B Steiner of the Iowa State Sheriffs Association urges homeowners to lock up, arrange mail and newspaper deliveries, inform neighbors, and have sheriffs watch homes during absences. Don’t leave cash or valuables, and lock all entry points.
