Christmas at Batchelor to Java Journey of Fortresses
Lieutenant Colonel Frank Kurtz recalls the December Philippines crash day, isolation, and Mindanao evacuation. Harry Schreiber describes a high altitude battle over Masbate, wounded crews, and a wrecked aircraft as Brereton orders a Java push from Darwin to Malang. The crew prepares for long missions and a New Year toast before the Java war begins.
