Frontiers of Freedom to stage historic pageant at Chicago Fair

More than one million dollars of mobile equipment will serve as stage props for the Frontiers of Freedom pageant at the Chicago Fair of 1950. The show dramatizes 270 years of American history in 14 scenes over 63 minutes with authentic and replica items such as an oil derrick, The Kitty hawk, a Baltimore clipper, Erie canal boats, McCormick reaper, Tom Thumb, John Bull locomotives, diesel engines, a jet plane, and modern harvesting machines. The production seats 6,000 on an outdoor stage claimed to be the world’s largest. The fair runs June 24 through Labor Day.
