Dollar Corn And The Consumer

The Iowa Weather and Crop Service says dollar corn would not raise retail food prices. A bushel of corn yields about 40 pounds of corn flakes, plus gluten feed and byproducts, totaling 49 packages. At 15 cents each, a $7.35 revenue would result with less than a cent per package difference passing to consumers. Many factors influence retail food prices, making farmer material costs a minor item.
