Beetrace School Christmas Program Friday Night

Beetrace School hosts a Christmas program and literary event on Friday December 20 at 7 30 p m. The program features songs and recitations by students led by Dorothy Hanson the teacher with titles such as The Luckiest Boy Christmas Presents If I was Santa Claus Santa s Helper All I Want When Santa Is President The Boy Who Played Santa Claus Always in the Manger Aunt Jane s Present Just Fore Christmas and a song Five boys perform a Negro song plus a reading When Pa Was Santa Claus and a detective dialogue Christmas Detectives. Ottumwa Man Killed in Bloomfield Road Crash

Clyde E. Williams, 41, of Ottumwa, died in a head-on collision between two trucks on the Bloomfield Ottumwa road, about a mile north of Bloomfield near the Fox River bridge. Snowfall and slick pavement reduced visibility and caused the wreck. Williams had lived in Moulton about 15 years ago.

Gala Christmas Program At Colonial Tonight

The Colonial presents the Hatcher Players with Ace in the Hole and Curly Top starring Shirley Temple. Friday and Saturday highlight Red Heads On Parade, with a studio-picket by blondes and brunettes. Will Rogers stars in Steamboat Round the Bend, opening December 24 and 25, with Cobb, Anne Shirley, Eugene Pallette, John McGuire, Berton Churchill, and Stepin Fetchit in supporting roles.

Work On West Road Progressing Rapidly

The Moulton to Mt. Ararat road project in Appanoose county under the WPA shows rapid grading progress. Over a mile and a half of seven miles has been completed with corners eliminated and ditches cut. The route likely will be paved or graveled after grading. Another Moulton Coatsville section, led by Davis county, moves toward an all weather southern outlet upon completion.

A. J Horn recuperates from a severe leg wound after a male hog pierced his right leg in the hog pen last week. The injury needed five stitches to close the wound.

Another Trap Shoot Billed For Sunday

The local Legion Post sponsors another trap shoot next Sunday December 22 at the same site, 1-2 miles west of Guiseville on Primary No. 38, starting at noon. Prizes include turkeys and chickens plus groceries. turkey 75 cents others 60 cents. Last Sunday's crowd was smaller but a small profit was reported. winners include Dewey Bear and Chet Carmer among others.

Churches To Give Christmas Programs This Sunday

Miss Eunice Irene Robertson of Maethe son and Rommel A. Doherty were married at the Methodist parsonage with a ring ceremony. The couple were joined by Mrs. Frank Waggoner and Mrs. B. F. Archibald. They will reside in Moulton with best wishes for a happy life.

A rare calf born at C A Stuckey’s farm last Friday lacks eyes and shows hindquarter deformities. The animal is frisky and healthy though has trouble locating its mother. Stuckey has not decided on a course of action yet.

Miss Irma Garner led the Home Furnishing class on December 11 at Mrs. Warren Stansberry’s home with a lesson on Slip Covers For Furniture. Five chairs were covered, materials shown, and samples collected. Attendees included Mrs. Ormand Stevenson and many local women. The next session is January 22 1886 at Mrs Ora Powell in Udell with Pictures and Wall Hangings as the topic.
