Irrigation and Fertilizer Boost Wheat Yields in Panhandle

F B Hunt of Hale county Texas reports higher wheat yields with irrigation and fall ammonium nitrate fertilizer. Applying 200 pounds per acre on land summer fallowed raised yields from 40 to 55 bushels in continuous wheat, and from 15 to 30 bushels with the same treatment. Many Panhandle farmers are using irrigation to enable crop rotation and legumes.
