President Cal les of Mexico declares retirement at term end November 30. Congress will select a provisional president to govern until the successor is elected. After Obregon's assassination the political climate has been unsettled but slowly improves.
Come on boys join the Scouts and help us grow. Any boy 12 years old can be a Scout. Scoutmaster William Miculka and assistant Roy Kotzebue invite new members with Frank Balajka serving as scribe and reporter. Malvin Merrem recently joined as a new member.
William Heyer and Miss Martha Laas were married at Hallettsville on Tuesday September 18 with County Judge C L Stavinoha officiating. They will reside at Baursville and the Eagle wishes them a long married life.
A health demonstration by the State Health Department will be held in the Moulton school auditorium at 8 00 P M Friday September 28. Admission is free and the public is invited.
The Eagle asks readers in arrears to settle subscriptions as harvests improve cash flow. It notes leniency in the past but urges payment now, appealing to a sense of reciprocity with the line one good turn deserves another.
Sabinal resident Gus Arnim has been in Moulton since our last issue, with no further details provided about the visit.
The Lutheran District Conference met in Moulton for two days with the Ladies' Aid serving meals at Luther Hall. Ministers in attendance included Revs. Meyer Arneckeville Lor fing Flachmeier Bohls Senff Rode Heineke Wendt Albert Wiederanders Grueber Baetke Streng Wolff Haag Sagebiel Janssen Sager Falkenberg Moulton and others. Visitors included Mrs. Sager Schmidt Lehne Weber and others.

William Zappe and Huebner of Shiner visited Moulton Monday. Mrs J A Leazar ill. Mr and Mrs H F Mueller in Westhoff visiting son Ad Mueller. Dickson School opens with Miss Nellie Lee Kelly and Edwin J Richter as teachers. Mrs Louis Zidek ill in Temple. Mrs C I Jaeggli of Denton visits Moulton family. William H Mueller and family return to Houston after visit. Mrs J T Jaeggli and children toured Dallas and Lubbock and Carlsbad Caverns. George von Lienen orders Eagle for daughter Alice at Luther College Seguin. Mrs A Krum and children move to Moulton in new home. James Donald Richter and Edward Bohuslav to College Station for two years at A and M. Miss Helen Boehm returns from Denton with sisters and cousin studying in Yoakum. Miss Alice Hrnck hosts birthday party with cards and refreshments.
The Victoria fair opened Tuesday of last week and closed Saturday night with strong praise for the exhibits in all departments. Entertainment included races balloon ascensions dances and a pageant. The American Legion Band of Moulton performed the first two days and will play at the Gonzales fair next week.
Mrs Julius Kotzebue aged 86 years 7 months died in Columbus Thursday September 20. Funeral service was held Friday at 11 oclock at Mentz cemetery with attendees including Mr and Mrs Vine Rehmer Mrs Herman Chemnitz Mrs W E Graves and Mrs F J Helweg of Moulton.
Gonzales Fair titled School Day grants free admission to every child from Gonzales County and adjacent counties. The board of directors voted to extend this opportunity to students from counties touching Gonzales County, ensuring wider access to the educational fair.
Oscar Ludwig and Mildred Petrich, leading Breslau section youths, married at the Lutheran church in Moulton Tuesday evening with Rev. A H Falkenberg officiating. Witnesses were Mr. and Mrs. Rud Sobotik. The Eagle extends best wishes to the couple.
Birth announcements include a girl for Mr. and Mrs. Zem beha near Moulton born September 25 and a girl for Mr. and Mrs. Mikesh near Moulton born September 25, plus a boy for Mr. and Mrs. Glatzert of Moulton born September 21. Other items note visits, school openings at Evergreen School with teachers Hamon and Borrer, travel of Fred Fehrenkamp to Temple, patient recovery of Mrs. Valenta after surgery, and Oswald Buescher elected president of First State Bank of Moulton with others named to direct terms.
The Baursville P. T. A. meeting set for September 21 is postponed to September 28. Members and parents are invited to attend.
Zions Lutheran Church schedules Sunday School and Bible Class at 9:00 A M led by J T Jaeggli with Rev John Harder of Houston delivering the address. German service at 10:00 A M and English service at 8:00 P M with Rev Harder preaching. Confirmation class starts September 29 at 9 A M. Pastor A H Falkenberg invites all to attend.
