Lockhart mass meeting raises 1500 dollars for a preliminary survey of a railroad line from Austin to Lockhart. Austin-Philadelphia interests offer the Governor a 36000 dollar yearly lease for four years on the State Iron Foundry at Rusk with a 50000 option to buy after the lease. Clarksville reports several miles of concrete sidewalks built since 1912 with only a few blocks remaining without sidewalks.

Sam and Will Moore Institute Opens with 135 Pupils

On Monday the Sam and Will Moore Institute opened under favorable auspices. About one hundred thirty five pupils attended with the board of trustees and many patrons witnessing the opening ceremonies. The faculty is led by Prof. A J Dippel with assistants Prof. T H Leslie Miss Clay H Clark Miss Elizabeth Preston and Mrs A J Dippel.
