Moulton Chamber of Commerce Meets. Senior Class Officers Elected
The Moulton Chamber of Commerce held a regular meeting at the V F W Hall with many members present and a stew supper. Officers for the Senior Class were elected including Franklin Barborak as president and Walter Hildebrandt as parliamentarian. The Chamber discussed sewer construction, water outages, fire safety coordination, and a planned trip to the Luling Foundation for dairy interests.

Lavaca County 4-H Boys Win District Pig Show Prizes
Three Lavaca County 4-H club boys represented their group at the District Sears Roebuck pig show in Victoria on Wednesday the 13th. Daniel Pestek took first in the gift show earning 25 dollars. George Ammermann placed second with a pen of three market hogs earning 18 dollars. Frank Wendel Jr. also took second in the boar contest earning 34 dollars. The prize money will fund hog lot equipment to advance their pig project.

St Joseph School Club Elects New Officers and Plans Repairs
The St Joseph School Club held a Friday night meeting at 8 with Sister Eunice opening and Consilia closing. New officers include President Mrs Frank Kouba Vice President Mrs Edgar Freytag Secretary Mrs Joe Heger Treasurer Mrs Willie Hoepfl Jr and Reporter Mrs Bruno Wenske. The group voted to repair the basketball court and seasons. Thirty members attended. The next meeting is October 6 and attendance prizes went to Sister Eunice with a $25 donation from Mr and Mrs Edgar Freytag for school books. Vladik E Darilek won the surprise package.

St Joseph Church Festival Attendance Brown Cotton Auction
The St Joseph's congregation in Moulton held its annual festival at the V F W Hall on Sunday September 17 with a noon family dinner and a 5 p m supper. Six bales of cotton were auctioned to bidders including Ed E Kolar Rev Joseph Kopp and others with bale weights from 468 to 541 pounds and prices from 53 to 65 cents per pound. The day featured a large dance with Henry Bosch Orchestra and was described as a grand success.

Rep Thompson says Ninth District cotton farmers will run under the same acreage allotment law in 1951 as in 1950 unless new legislation passes. The Senate Agricultural Committee tabled the House cotton bill, leaving no approval for this session, so Public Law 272 governs 1951.

Hallettsville Soldier Griggs Killed in Korea
Hallettsville reports Corporal Robert Griggs Jr. as the town’s first Korean War casualty. He died in action August 12 while serving in the 24th Infantry Regiment, according to a telegram to his parents Robert and Alonia Griggs Route 3. A separate Defense Department telegram says Mary Ehler’s son Master Sergeant Edwin Ehler was seriously wounded in Korea on September 2.
