Lavaca County 4-H Pig Show and crops program updates
William Kloesel of Oak Grove won first at the Sears Roebuck Pig Show with $8.00, followed by Benjamin Smolik of Kamensky in second and Jerry Rebecek in third. The Kloesel winner will attend the District Show in Victoria on Sept 14 competing against five counties. The column notes long running Sears Roebuck gifts of gilts since 1945 totaling 72, producing 576 first litters, with recipients sharing gifts with peers. It also urges pink bollworm stalk destruction to extend the October 10 plowup date, reports other club meetings and a new Green Light Fly Bait insecticide, and promotes fall and winter gardening advice for Lavaca County.
