Mission Sunday Program at Lutheran Sunday School

The program on September 18 at 9 am features songs, prayers, addresses by Rev A W Weber of Gay Hill and Rev Dr W J Goerner of Seguin, readings and recitations by multiple Sunday School classes, musical selections directed by J T Jaeggi and Pauline Janszen, and a closing recitation with offerings accompanying the hymn My Jesus I Love Thee.

Albrecht Rehmet Couple Wed in San Antonio

Robert Albrecht and Cecelia Rehmet were married in San Antonio on Monday. The bride, daughter of Konstant and Mrs Rehmet of San Antonio, hails from Moulton, while the groom is a prominent Yoakum businessman. They honeymoon in Houston and Galveston, with well wishes for a long married life from The Eagle.

Moulton Public Schools Open 1927 28 Session

The Moulton public schools opened the 1927 28 scholastic session Monday with 195 enrollments. Patrons attended the opening exercises as the juvenile orchestra played. Speeches were given by Superintendent W E Smith J T Jaeggli PTA president Mrs F J Wagner Rev A H Falkenberg Dr P O Puck A J Elster and O F Knape.

Notice announces a shift to a cash basis for all purchases starting Oct 1 1927 due to three-year drought crop failures and cotton prices. Yearly accounts are discontinued while city accounts will be 30 day with due date the first of the month after purchase. 10 percent interest applies to overdue accounts and credit is suspended until paid.

The September 8 government cotton crop report shows a yield of 12,692,000 bales, down from the August forecast of 13,492,000. Texas is estimated to produce 4,700,000 bales.

Cash Basis Begins October 1 1927

The St Joseph school opened the 1927 28 term last Monday with good attendance. Mrs Walter Warneke has returned from Yoakum hospital improved. Mr Emil Grunwald and family of Moulton and Mr and Mrs T B May of St Louis visited at George West and Corpus Christi last week. Miss Helen Boehm and Miss Doris Cooper went to Denton to attend the College of Industrial Arts. Mr Vladik Boehm and Mrs Elo Fehrenkamp accompanied them. Miss Elsie Templin of Seguin visiting grandmother Mrs John Krueger left for Yoakum to visit relatives. Mr Wilson and family of Alvin, Miss Dolores Arnold of Houston and Mrs G L Mc Master of Yoakum were guests of the Papacek couple. Edward Biehunko Jr son of Mr and Mrs Ed L Biehunko celebrated his 8th birthday at the home of Mr and Mrs Frank Biehunko Sr. Dainty refreshments were served.

Lavaca County Receives 51000 Highway Aid

The State Highway Commission granted Lavaca County about 5100 000 in state and federal aid for grading and drainage structures on 14 miles of Highway No 72. The county has already paid its share, and the grant was approved in the morning session on Tuesday.
