Southwestern Bell seeks intrastate long distance tariff restructure
Southwestern Bell asks the Texas Public Utility Commission for permission to restructure intrastate Long Distance tariffs. The plan lowers initial minute rates for many calls and reduces rate steps from 18 to 10 while raising some charges for added minutes and the initial three minute period. It aims to reduce costs for many Texas customers, especially on short and medium distance tolls, while maintaining higher revenue from longer calls and shifting some usage to night and weekend discounts.
