John H. Rives a railroad conductor surrendered to Sheriff L A Greer after allegedly shooting J E Lucas in Yoakum Texas. Lucas was found dead on the sidewalk near the Rives home wearing only underclothes. Judge Temple set Rives bond at 1000 dollars signed by local business and railroad men.
A wedding at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Valenta united Miss Mary Valenta and Mr. L. E. Taylor of Cuero with Rev. E. Hannemann officiating. The couple left for San Antonio and will reside in Cuero where the bridegroom works at a bank. The bride is well known locally and the groom previously worked as a teller at Farmers & Merchants Bank. The Eagle extends best wishes for their happiness.
O B Moeller owner of the Moulton Meat Market suffered the amputation of the first joint of the middle finger on his left hand when caught in a meat chopper last Thursday. Surgical aid was quickly summoned and the patient is getting along fine.

Mrs Helen Kotzebue hosted the 42 Line Club with four tables on Wednesday August 30. Seven interesting games were played and a tie between Mrs August Kotzebue and Mrs Elo Fehrenkamp yielded a prize to Mrs Fehrenkamp for high total. Refreshments of chicken salad olive wafers iced tea and cake were served. Out of town guests included Miss Marie Goetz Gonzales and Miss Norma Simank Los Angeles. Next meeting will be with Mrs Rudolph Papacek.
John Haba of the Witting neighborhood was arrested Saturday on a prohibition violation. He appeared in Victoria, was released on bond, and returned home Monday.
German services in Boursville at 10 o clock Sunday morning. English services in Moulton at 8 o clock Sunday evening. Catechetical class begins Saturday morning at 9 o'clock in English.
The last regular meeting was held with Mrs. Edwin Jaeg gli and the next gathering will be hosted by Mrs. Helen Kotzebue on Wednesday September 13. All members are urged to attend.
