Texas exports 15 000 head of livestock through TDA facilities
In the first eight months of 1977 Texas exported 15,768 head of livestock via the Texas Department of Agriculture facilities. Cattle totaled 12,940 head, mainly Holstein dairy stock to Mexico, with Charolais, Brown Swiss and Hereford also sent there. Declines echo broader trends due to peso devaluation and stricter imports in Mexico. Guatemalan, Venezuelan, and Dominican Republic buyers and shipments to Argentina also occurred. Sheep, swine, horses, and goats were moved in smaller numbers, with Suffolk Moufton Hampshire, Yorkshire, Brahman, Polled Hereford, and Santa Gertrudis among breeds.
