Old Landmark Demolished for Bank Expansion
Carpenters tore down the old frame building on the southwest corner of the business square to make way for a new two story brick erected by the First State Bank. The lot was owned by the F. W. Neuhaus estate, which the bank recently purchased. The structure, built in the early 1850s by Dibrell Kros, served various merchants for over six decades, with renovations but no major rebuilds. Lumber from the old building will be used by Mrs. Neuhaus on her ranch property.
