Community groups seek doctor locally amid hospital debate
Ed's Viewpoint notes local leaders plan a meeting to discuss attracting a physician and possibly building hospital facilities, while highlighting an up to date urgent clinic and ambulance service. It adds a reminder for civic groups to contribute opinions and suggestions.
Federal highway program faces costly upkeep and budget strain
The plan aims to build 41 000 miles of roads over 13 years at 51 billion dollars with high maintenance costs. States like Texas sought to raise truck weight to 72 000 pounds, threatening expenses. The appropriation may cover only half of needed highways, amid national budget balancing. The Little Rock incident has cost taxpayers about 14 billion while federal troops managed the affair.
