The American Red Cross reports 1,888,702 first aid and life saving certificates issued since the program began. In the last year 222,693 people qualified in first aid and 80,961 learned water safety and rescue methods.
Red Cross volunteers logged 1 707 220 hours of service last year and produced 685 074 garments 4 355 719 surgical dressings 16 773 Christmas bags for overseas service. They printed Braille books with 42 000 pages in the past year highlighting public welfare.
Of 16.5 million schoolchildren in 52 nations, more than half belong to the American Junior Red Cross. They represent 34,882 U.S. schools as part of the international organizing effort.
Red Cross chapters assist needy families in their communities, addressing about 22 674 family problems each month through support and relief services.

Miss Lorena Ruth Smith a UT Austin student visited her parents Mr and Mrs F C Smith last weekend in the area.
Zions Lutheran Church schedules a lecture by Missionary Doermann of India on Sunday November 15 at 7 p.m. in the church. The event invites members, friends, and especially school children to attend after morning services. Pastor A H Falkenberg extends a cordial welcome.
