Miners' Great Strike Threat Looms in Anthracite

Wilkesbarre Pa May 27 The anthracite dispute still questions if a total shutdown will occur Monday as the United Mine Workers orders hours and wages for engineers firemen and pumpers take effect Operators insist pumps and engines will run while miners and Stationary Firemen push for a full walkout. A mass meeting for engineers pumpmen and firemen is planned in Wyoming next Friday to rally support and many firemen vow to strike almost entirely with operators needing to hire green hands. State Secretary Mullahey says the stationary firemen will quit Monday and claims 90 percent of engineers and pump runners will strike.
