Homecoming at Old Moulton draws wide state turnout

About 250 former residents and descendants from over twenty communities gathered at Old Moulton on Sunday May 16 for a homecoming. The event included church services, a large dinner, and talks with plans for an annual reunion on the third Sunday in May. Out-of-town visitors from San Antonio Houston Galveston Gonzales Port Arthur and other towns registered, sharing memories of Old Moulton Institute and the community.

Moulton Business Men Plan Local Civic Steps

The Moulton Business Men's League held its regular meeting Tuesday. Officers announced, and Frankie Smith was elected as duchess to represent Moulton at the Yoakum Tom celebration. The group discussed civic projects including incorporation steps for firemen benefits and honoring Memorial Day and the town's fiftieth anniversary.

42 Club Hosts Afternoon Card Party

Mrs. Frank Bighundo Jr. welcomed guests to the 42 Club event with Mrs. Myrtle Kolar posting the high score for the first award. Mrs. J. T. Jaeggli won consolation and Mrs. Jed Faltisek took the gallop prize. Refreshments included chicken sandwiches potato salad chocolate angel food cake and iced tea.

The Czech Catholic Dramatic Club presented Ostrelo deti, a three act play, Sunday night to a large appreciative audience at St. Joseph's Hall. Vocal numbers between acts delighted attendees. Cast included Tom V. Tousek, Tom H. Tousek, Albert Brom, Alex Petruzela, Frank Pilat, Adolf Pilat, Bobus Hlozek, Edward Darilek, Morris Havlik, Mrs. Edgar Freytag, Mrs. Ed. Novosad, Misses Besie Novosad, Millie Sykora, Lillie Brom, Jeanette Steinacher. Tousek was manager and Emil Darilek promoter.

Two Shiner Wreck Victims Buried

Shiner Texas mourns as Emil Drabek age 20 is killed and Ted Mikeska about 24 dies from injuries after an automobile crash Sunday. Christi Stock and Wilma Pfeil remain hospitalized after a sedan overturned several times after a wheel struck a culvert. Funeral services were held in Shiner on Monday.

San Antonio trippers will be in Moulton Wednesday after noon May 26 from 3 05 to 3 35 oclock. Yoakum boosters will be in Moulton Friday morning from 10 40 to 11 00 oclock. Extend the welcome to them with open arms.

Cedar Springs School Closes With Entertaining Program

The Cedar Springs School closed its term with a lighthearted program aimed at fun and entertainment. B Duncan Davis and Supt. G E Bradley offered remarks praising education and school progress. The event showcased four acts including The Doctor's Office Mother Goose Pageant a first efforts at blackface comedy and a Singing School concert with Clint Hall Casey Orchestra providing music between acts.

Soil Conservation Field Day at Moulton

The Schulenburg camp prepares for a two week visit period from May 15 to 29 with Special Visiting Day on May 26 in Moulton. Farmers and 4-H members from Lavaca and nearby counties will tour farms to learn erosion control methods and soil moisture practices.

Buried in Flatonia Dick Osterloh dies at 67

Carl Dietrich Osterloh known as Dick Osterloh died suddenly at his home near Flatonia from a heart attack. Funeral held at his home with Rev. A H Falkenberg officiating. Burial in Flatonia City Cemetery. He was 67. Survived by widow 2 children Alma Olson and John Frederick Osterloh and 8 grandchildren. One child died in infancy. He was born in Oldenburg Germany and moved to Texas at 22. He served as Flatonia precinct county commissioner and as 1980 census enumerator.
