Shiner prepares to float a bond issue totaling 200000 dollars to finance the construction of the link of Highway No 109. The Eagle expects the measure to pass by a large margin.
Colquitt exited the U S senate race leaving seven candidates in the field. The runoff appears set between Tom Connally and Senator Earl Mayfield with Connally favored to win.
Mr and Mrs Joe Mikulik and son Willie visited relatives in West Texas this week. Mrs Henry Hoyer and Miss Margaret Etlinger visited Hallettsvile on Monday. Mrs H D Priesmeyer of Orange Grove visited here last week. Miss Pearl Munke returned to Schulenburg Saturday after a week at the William Woehler home. Mr Joe C Kopecky and family and Mrs Frank Jilek Sr were in San Antonio for several days last week.
Mr and Mrs Frank J Jesek returned from their honeymoon last Saturday and left Tuesday for their future home at West Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. William Hillmer and their daughter Selma left for Alice on Wednesday to visit the Rheinhold Huebner household. They also plan trips to Corpus Christi.
Mr and Mrs William Woehler Sr and Mr and Mrs William Woehler Jr Miss Ida Lu eke and Mrs H D Priesmeyer of Schulenburg were visitors Sunday in the community.
Mr and Mrs F T Fehrenkamp marked fifty years of marriage with a large gathering at their Moulton home on June 20. Guests enjoyed a noon to night feast, electric lights, a band, and dancing on the lawn. The couple, both in good health, were married June 20 1878 at Live Oak Hill Fayette County. They have seven living children and sixteen grandchildren.
The Shiner fair ran June 20 to 23 with favorable weather and high quality exhibits. Daily baseball games and nightly dances drew big crowds while speakers included State Senator Gus Russek, Congressman Tom Connally, Congressman J J Mansfield, and county candidates. Two bands supplied music during the four days.
Mrs Elo Maikoetter of Moulton sustained a fracture of the right arm last Sunday while trying to crank an automobile. Surgical aid was summoned and she is doing nicely.
The Democratic National Convention convened in Houston on Tuesday. Balloting to choose a standard bearer is expected to begin Friday.
Mr Frank Antrich died at his home near Shiner Saturday from heart failure. Interment was in Shiner Catholic Cemetery Sunday afternoon with Rev Father Nettardus officiating. He was 79 and survived by his wife and four children, two brothers Peter of Waco and Leonard of Moulton. He was a distant relative of Joe Bohuslav and family of Moulton.
A group of Gonzales boosters and a band visited Moult on Monday afternoon to advertise the big cowboy rodeo set to begin July 4 and finish July 6.
The Central Power and Light Company will open its new ice plant at Luling Friday evening June 29. Several from Moulton expect to attend the opening.
Mr and Mrs Edwin Lillie of near Moulton welcomed an eight pound girl Saturday June 23. The joyous event adds a new member to the family.
Business houses of Moulton will close next Wednesday July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Local merchants announce the holiday closure as residents prepare for holiday activities and celebrations.
The Moulton Sunday School held its annual picnic on Sunday June 24 in Fritz Fisbeck's pasture seven miles west of town. Sunday school and divine services were held on the grounds. A bountiful dinner was served and enjoyed by a large crowd. The juvenile orchestra played several selections. Everyone present spent a most enjoyable day.
Frank Schindler and Miss Nona Etheredge were married in Ennis on June 1. The groom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ford Schindler of Moulton and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Etheredge of Hanis.
Miss Annie Leazar stays with ill Grandma Kuhen while community praises John Mladenko the new commissioner for his good work in this area. Magzie.
John Kasper Jr and Agnes Migl, both of Shiner, wed at the Catholic church Monday morning. Rev. L. P. Netardus officiated. Kasper is son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kasper, Migl daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Migl.
