Serious Eye Injury During Ball Game In Texas City
Lee Stalla of here sustained a serious right eye injury Thursday night June 20 during a ball game. A ball overthrown toward first base struck his glasses lens, injuring his eye. he was taken for first aid and is now under treatment in Victoria with an eye specialist. The eyeball is bruised inside.

John Mekyna of Schulenburg farmer died at home June 13 after a three week illness. He was 74 years 11 months 13 days. Services June 15 at 8 00 a m at Schwenke Baumgarten Chapel and 8 30 a m at Praha Catholic Church with Rev Wm Halata and Rev Marcus Valenta. Burial Praha Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chas Halata Bernard Halata Frank Skyvara Eddie Anders Arnold Bohuslav Marvin Novak. Born in Moravia 1883 he emigrated to the United States in 1895 and settled at Hallettsville.
