Michael P. Roberts of Moulton Elementary won first place in the intermediate division at the State Fire Prevention Poster Contest. His poster, chosen at the Firemen's Convention in Longview Texas, had previously earned the district prize in Karnes City on April 24.

Fire report at Komensky hay bind incident
Two fire trucks responded to a blaze at the Mrs Edith Kubenka home on Komensky. The motor on a hay bind caught fire with Ernest Kubenka riding it, destroying the motor but causing no further damage.

Three Die In One Car Crash On Highway 95 Near Moulton
A single vehicle crash on Highway 95 six miles north of Moulton Friday June 17 at 6 45 p m left three dead. Richard Rodriguez 35 of Flatonia drove a 1970 Ford Galaxie that left the road and struck a bridge railing. Passengers John Rivera 23 and Vin cent Rivera 22, also of Flatonia, were killed at the scene. Rodriguez died later at Fayette Memorial Hospital La Grange. Justice of the Peace Norman Krischke Schulenburg reported. Highway Patrolman Curtis Klopsteck investigated.
