Fire destroys Cuero Buchel block shops and bank
A late night fire in Cuero nearly wiped out the Buchel block including Koebler's dry goods store the Buchel bank and Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone Company offices. Loss ~250000 with 40000 building and 200000 contents loss. fire started by a gas explosion in the Cuero drug store rear. By 1030 the blaze was under control.

Governor Calls Legislature for Extraordinary Session

Hallettsville Plans Big Barbecue
Hallettsville Texas June 17 The arrangement committee plans a large barbecue at Hermann park on July 10 with an estimated 1200 needed to cover expenses funded by Hallettsville citizens. A contract is let for 6600 pounds of beef as well as mutton and pork, and Governor Colquitt is invited to attend and speak.
