Friendly Trail Riders Plan Summer Events in 1977
The Friendly Trail Riders announce a series of summer events from June to August. The Moulton Chamber of Commerce elected new directors for the coming year at a May 3 meeting at Alley Bar-B-Q. Cindy Petrek was re elected president for a second year. New officers include Dennis Schacherl as 1st vice president and Ben V Darilek as 2nd vice president. The group planned the jamboree banquet and discussed next year projects. Charley Raymond Lewallen of Moulton has been appointed Lavaca County Veterans' Service Officer effective January 1 of this year. Born February 6, 1924 in Florence Texas and raised in Georgetown and Austin, he married Claudette Rogers in Port Lavaca on June 29 1956. They have three children James Raymond and Calta, with James a student at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.

Machacek Dies of Gunshot Wound in Lavaca County
Rudolph Antone Machacek 77 of the Moravia St John area north of Hallettsville Lavaca County died Monday June 6 1977 at his home. He was shot several times with a .22 rifle about 730 am in the backyard. Justice of the Peace Eddie Vrana Moravia ruled death by a personal safety related gunshot wound. Graveside services were held 10 am Wed June 8 in Six Mile Cemetery. Richardson Funeral Home Port Lavaca handled arrangements. Survivors include wife Marie Louise Machacek three sons Joseph A Daniel S Machacek Antone D Machacek two brothers Emmett and Frank Machacek and nine grandchildren.
