Friendly Trail Riders Plan Summer Events in 1977

The Friendly Trail Riders announce a series of summer events from June to August. Activities include a Stag Supper at American Legion Hall Moulton on June 17, an Overnight Ride June 18–19 starting at Corn Cob Hill, a Cistern Picnic meeting July 10, a July 24 Jamboree Parade in Moulton, a parade assembly July 24 at Jimmy Holub's Farm, and an August 7 Schulenburg Horse Show Parade. Members are urged to save the dates.

Mental Health Drive Raises 217.42 in May

Moulton a bellringer campaign collected 217.42 during Mental Health Month benefiting the Mental Health Association in Texas. Shirley K. Camfield praised Lexy Boehm and Bellringer workers for their efforts in supporting the nonprofit and its fight against mental illness and help for families.

Bohuslav graduates from Texas State Technical Institute

Ronnie Bohuslav, son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Bohuslav of Hallettsville, completed the automobile mechanism program at the Texas State Technical Institute in Waco. He is the grandson of Mr and Mrs Tom Bohuslav of Moulton.

Co. of C Banquet Marks 29th Annual Event

The 29th Annual C of C Banquet was held May 18 at the Moulton VFW Hall. Master of Ceremonies Thomas Hoyer presided as officers and directors were introduced. Mayor Harry Meyer gave remarks, and a dance followed with Sundowners. About 150 people attended, with decor by Cindy Petrek Thelma Hinze Mary Patek and Elsie Jasek.

Local C of C Elect Officers in Moulton Chamber Meeting

The Moulton Chamber of Commerce elected new directors for the coming year at a May 3 meeting at Alley Bar-B-Q. Cindy Petrek was re elected president for a second year. New officers include Dennis Schacherl as 1st vice president and Ben V Darilek as 2nd vice president. The group planned the jamboree banquet and discussed next year projects. Approximately 25 members attended the session where door prizes and refreshments followed. The directors and president held a May 6 luncheon at Kloesels Steak House to finalize officers. New officer slate includes Dennis Schacherl president elect and Darilek as 2nd vice president. Flatonia Livestock Market Report Activity and Prices Rise

The market was active with prices $2.00 to $3.00 higher than last week. Fat butcher calves sold well, packer cows steady, bulls steady, and cow and calf pairs scarce but fair. The hog market was good, selling about $1.00 higher. REPORT continues on page 7.

Eli Toland long time resident of Moulton was found dead in his Hiway 95 home last week Thursday around 3 p m Justice of the Peace George Mayer ruled death due to natural causes with the body believed to have been dead four to seven days Toland was born August 3 1896.

Moulton Man Named Lavaca County Veterans Service Officer

Charley Raymond Lewallen of Moulton has been appointed Lavaca County Veterans' Service Officer effective January 1 of this year. Born February 6, 1924 in Florence Texas and raised in Georgetown and Austin, he married Claudette Rogers in Port Lavaca on June 29 1956. They have three children James Raymond and Calta, with James a student at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.

Moulton Clinic Board Sets Up New Business Office

The Moulton Community Medical Clinic board met June 6 1977 at City Hall with President Thomas Hoyer presiding. They reported a $5310.61 balance in accounts before the picnic and approved the formation of Macken & Associates to establish and run the new business office. Machacek Dies of Gunshot Wound in Lavaca County

Rudolph Antone Machacek 77 of the Moravia St John area north of Hallettsville Lavaca County died Monday June 6 1977 at his home. He was shot several times with a .22 rifle about 730 am in the backyard. Justice of the Peace Eddie Vrana Moravia ruled death by a personal safety related gunshot wound. Graveside services were held 10 am Wed June 8 in Six Mile Cemetery. Richardson Funeral Home Port Lavaca handled arrangements. The Moulton Knights of Columbus hold a regular meeting Thursday June 9 at 8 o clock in the Catholic Gym with officer elections on the agenda.
