Fort Phantom Hill Texas A Storied Frontier Fort
Fort Phantom Hill in Texas arose in December 1850 under Major Thomas with Black Beaver guiding the expedition along the Brazos Clear Fork. It earned its name from a mirage and later surrendered to Buck Barry’s Rangers without a fight in 1861. The ruin survives as a romantic legend shaping many tales.
