Dallas May 22 The Texas Industrial Congress reports up to 30000 in cash prizes plus 5000 in merchandise and other premiums for the best yields in farm and garden products. Corn and cotton lead. counties offer 500 to 1000 each. About 10000 contestants, including boys corn clubs, compete statewide.
Porfirio Diaz resigned the presidency and Francisco I. Madero resigned the provisional post. Francisco Leo de la Barra was chosen provisional president with a full election planned for November and a gar inauguration set for December. The note adds Madero's intent to run and mentions upcoming waterworks improvements by Moulton.
Cullen F Thomas, recently moved from Waco to Dallas, the home of disgruntled politicians, predicts Bailey will be defeated in the 1912 election.
The waterworks celebration will be held at Hermann Park next Monday and is billed as a big affair. Attendees are encouraged to come out and enjoy the event.
Tomas Kraicuar the first Bohemian settler in Burleson county and a legislature member died at his Caldwell home on Monday at age 63. He helped establish early community ties and served in public office.

Local shipments: Hallettsville Truck Growers send two more carloads of potatoes and onions. another car due Monday. Fuller Mineral Well Co ships its medicated water from wells south of town. Commissioners award a $1030 iron bridge contract over North Mustang Creek to Penn Bridge Co, four month completion. Lavaca county notary appointments total fifty with expected June 1 or soon thereafter qualification.
Groundbreakings and bond issues mark rapid growth across Texas cities. Projects include a $50,000 Santa Fe passenger station at Sweetwater, a $50,000 hotel in the city, a $30,000 Garden Academy at San Antonio, and $300,000 road bonds in Bell County. Nacogdoches votes $90,000 for a new courthouse, Cotton Belt breaks ground on a Comanche depot, and Houston's First National Bank installs a $27,000 private electric plant. Longview approves $7,500 for railroad right of way as it expands to sixth line. Port Arthur ships half a million cases of oil to Australia.

In Gonzales Texas on May 24 a family poisoning at the Jurek farm near Dilworth is reported to have killed two children aged 1 and 8. The mother fainted to be a victim but survived after vomiting the poison which may have been match heads dissolved in water. Committed to the county jail, she shows signs of crazed distress. On May 28 the same woman Bertha Jurex was found insane by a county court jury after being charged with murdering her two children.

Ignez Brosh aged 53, jailed Saturday after family feared for their safety, was found dead this morning in Hallettsville Texas. A coroner's inquest returned a verdict that Brosh smothered himself. He lived about five miles west of town on Smothers Creek.
