Congressmen Clark W. Thompson Addresses Farm Aid Debates
In a district letter Congressman Clark W. Thompson discusses farm relief and policy. He notes a bill giving the president latitude to remove surpluses from Commodity Credit Corporation warehouses, warns of restrictions, and backs targeted aid rather than broad blank checks. Freezer Rules For Pork Trichinae and Home Storage
Freezing pork at minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit for six to seven days after cooling reduces trichinae risk. Larger cuts like 35 to 50 pound hams may need four days to cool to temperature, while a 14 pound ham or shoulder needs 48 hours. Cook pork thoroughly as a foolproof method. John A. Rothbauer and his carpentry crew recently returned from Clute after building a new home for Mr. and Mrs. James Maresh.
