William Jennings Bryan was nominated for president on the first ballot at the Democratic National Convention in Denver on July 9, winning 892%2 votes of 1006. The populace expects his election, noting renewed support from former opponents and strong backing from young men to bear his standard of truth and justice to victory.
The Hallettsville Post reports Lavaca County opposition to Governor Campbell among Democrats while few will back Williams. Wynne is favored for attorney general by Campbell supporters, and Republicans socialists and populists oppose Campbell.
