Government surplus sales accuse agencies of robbing taxpayers
A U S congressman accuses the GSA and the Defense Department of selling surplus goods at a fraction of cost. He cites helicopters sold for pennies on the dollar and an Idaho 82 acre missile site for 5500, arguing sales are secretive and favor insiders. He urges a new motto to stop wasteful practices.

Bleeding Our Oil Policy A Call to Keep Major Firms Intact
The piece argues against a Senate bill to break up the 18 largest U.S. oil companies arguing divestiture would fail to boost competition or lower prices. It notes oil industry concentration, profits, and the Arab embargo context, warning of a decade-long legal fight, disrupted energy investment, higher consumer costs, and broader economic harm. It likens the bill to medieval medical practices and urges Congress to abandon the medieval view of economics.
