In Yoakum Texas on Saturday a father J L Bayers and his older son went to the river to bathe leaving a 3 year old on the bank. The child slipped into the water and drowned despite rescue efforts by the father and brother.

Hon Ed Tarkington former representative from Lavaca county died at his Hallettsville home Friday morning July 9 after weeks of illness. A former Confederate soldier he came to Lavaca in 1859 and was 76. Burial was in Mossy Grove Cemetery.
Miss Lillie Krueger delightfully entertained a number of friends Monday afternoon in commemoration of her birthday anniversary. Dainty refreshments were partaken of and those present had a most enjoyable time.
A spring shower aided crops last Sunday while fodder making begins this week. Frank Meyer and family hosted visiting relatives near Old Moulton. Families of Krause Miculka Pundt Woehler Koenig and Hayes attended gatherings and visits through the week. Darilek brothers hauled oil for a big engine and Ever Green School patrons added to the teacher’s house. Ben. July 13, 1915.
Mrs Sinnermany visited relatives at Schulenburg last week. Easil Jaroszewski Em il Schmidt Herman Meyer and Ernst Zimmermanns guests Sunday. Richard Kuehn and family visited Willie Wewerder Sunday. Jos Dietschke and baby visited Hallettsville relatives. Anton Bratrich entertained relatives for his birthday. Those who attended the Flatonia fair enjoyed themselves.
Mrs Augusta Teichmueller widow of Judge H Teichmueller of La Grange died Friday in Denver Colorado after three months there for health. She was 72 and an aunt of Ed Studeman of Moulton. Her body was laid to rest in La Grange Cemetery on Monday. Mr and Mrs Ed Studeman of this city attended the funeral.
The United States Department of Agriculture reports Texas will harvest 158.5 million bushels of corn this year from 7.488 million acres. National production is estimated at about 3 billion bushels.
