Schulenburg hosts a large Fourth of July celebration with visitors from near and far. Mayor Gus Rusek welcomed attendees after a parade, crowning Miss Julia Clark as queen. Kellyfield planes performed, Rev Father Ledwig spoke, Halbertshville beat Schulenburg 3 to 2, Fayetteville and Hallettsville bands played, then dances and free street movie show capped the day.

In Memoriam Mrs George Archbell Moulton Texas
An obituary from Moulton Texas honors Mrs George Archbell who died at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston on July 4. She was born September 15, 1884 and joined Old Moulton Baptist Church about ten years ago. She married George Archbell on December 28, 1919, leaving a heartbroken husband after six months of marriage. The tribute recalls her bright, cheerful nature and faith, offers comfort to the family, and notes God gathers his lamb to the fold.

School Club Notes Promotes Cook Book Project
Advertisements will be collected this week for the Club Cook Book. The committee reports busy arranging recipes from all kinds of dishes and merchants assisting with ads from out of town to fund the project. When published the book will be sold at local outlets for 50 cents, designed to raise money for the school.
Watermelon Party at Etlinger Home
Willie Etlinger hosted a Saturday watermelon party with many friends. After games at the Etlinger residence the group went to Hermann Park where six large melons were shared. Guests included Prof. and Mrs. C. C. Roeder and numerous Misses and Messrs with varied surnames.

American Party Meeting Nominates Local Officials
The American Party held a Saturday meeting at the opera house adding seven new members for a total of 29. Joseph F. Butschek of Old Moulton was nominated for county commissioner of Precincts 2 and 6 and Fritz Fisbeck for public weighor of Precinct 6. Nominations for justice of the peace and constable for Precinct 6 will be made at the July 17 meeting.

Death of Mrs George Archbell Linked to Poisoning
Mrs Jennie Lockwell Archbell died at John Sealy Hospital Galveston from pneumonia poisoning. Her body was brought to Moulton and buried in Moulton Public Cemetery with Rev Bert Manning officiating. Survived by husband George Archbell parents six brothers and four sisters.

Death notice for Frank Effenberger in Texas
Frank Effenberger aged 72 died at Shiner Tuesday June 22 after a lingering illness. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery with funeral services by Rev Father Wolf. He is survived by his wife and seven children. A native of Austria he came to Texas in 1889. The Eagle extends sympathy to the survivors.
