Hog Prices May Dip In 1954
College Station reports predict hog prices may fall slightly in 1954 due to expanding pig crops and rising production. Hog prices in 1953 were high, driven by a small pig crop after two years of decline. Farrowings rose, and a 5 to 10 percent increase is expected this spring, boosting pork supplies and likely modestly lowering prices. Sheep and lamb numbers on farms declined early in the year, with mutton prices expected to hold near 1953 levels.
