Weather record reports 6 inches of snow with subzero temperatures marking the fourth heavy snow event this winter. Nevada California Los Angeles Palm Desert Las Vegas all report snowfall. Omaha plans to spend about 1 million dollars to add more snow removal equipment after a equipment shortage.
Mrs. Rosalie Stryk aged 89 of Schulenburg died Monday January 7. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Flatonia Smith Funeral Home and St. Marys Praha with interment in the church cemetery. Also noted are local reflections on city fuel policy, oil shortages, and weekend visits from area residents.
At its 40th annual convention in Abilene the Texas Farm Bureau voted against a state income tax and approved taxing agricultural lands by productive value with a 5 percent capitalization rate. Delegates also rejected pari mutuel betting and a state lottery while supporting a $10 extra motor vehicle license tax for education.
