Sheriff Sam Hart was found shot through the chest at 7:30 am in the front room of the jail where he lives. The bullet entered near the heart, struck a rib, damaged the left lung, and exited the back. Doctors say he has a chance to recover. Mrs W J Spear returned from Rogers after visiting her sister. Victor Freytag and family of Hermleigh visited Moulton recently.
Walter Warneke ordered his copy of The Moulton Eagle sent to Flatonia Route 4 instead of Shiner Route 8, prompting a likely address correction.
Lavaca plans another county fair at Hallettsville American Legion Park on September 20 21 and 22 1934 with emphasis on exhibition quality. The notes urge schools to participate in exhibits and to prepare a year book with language work maps and posters. Memberships for schools not yet in the league should be sent by January 15 to Prof Roy Bedichek at the University of Texas Austin. The column also reports state high school tuition payments for 1931-1932 and notes no payment yet for 1932-33.
Congressman J. J. Mansfield of Columbus in the 9th district was injured in an automobile accident at Alexandria Virginia. He sustained a lacerated neck and ear but his condition was not serious according to hospital officials. The skid involved a second car. Citizens wish him a speedy recovery.
