The city gears up for the January 17 inaugural ball for Gov elect Miriam A. Ferguson. Lavaca County installs four new county commissioners. A 1935 effective date is set for the tax assessor and collector consolidation, with schools facing a potential revenue shortfall as per capita funding drops toward 1938 34.
Torrential rains last spring spurred Lavaca County landowners to terrace fields to curb soil erosion. Seventeen community terracing schools taught proper leveling, spacing, and construction, led by M R Bentley from Texas A and M. About 22 000 acres were terraced in two months. residents are urged to attend a school and learn the method.
F C Mueller who lives northeast of here made a brief call to the office. He had plowed most of his land before the rainy weather set in.
The Moulton Lutheran Sunday school pupils presented their annual Christmas program at Zion's Lutheran Church on December 27 under the guidance of the pastor and teachers. A large crowd attended and all pupils received fruit and candy bags with thanks to F. T. Fehrenkamp for the Christmas tree.
The Children of Mary presented a three act play titled The Red Headed Step Child at St Josephs Hall on December 26 under Miss Bertha Oehl. A large crowd attended and receipts totaled 20.80. The company also performed at Hallettsville and Cole's Theater.

The bride, taught at Harlandale Public Schools San Antonio after graduating from Moulton High School in 1922 and earning a degree from the College of Industrial Arts Denton. The groom is a Harlandale teacher. They left for their new home in San Antonio and well wishes are extended by friends.

Nancy M Leazar aged 85 years 3 months 20 days died December 24 at 1035 p.m. at her son’s home in Waco Texas She was born in Mississippi August 31 1847 moved to Texas in 1852 and lived in Dutchtown Hochheim Old Moulton Flatonia and Waco She married George C Leazar November 16 1887 He preceded her in death Her survivors include son R F Leazar of Waco daughter Mrs Sam L Johnson of Moulton five grandchildren and brother Tom A Leazar of Ganado Funeral services were held December 26 at Old Moulton Cemetery conducted by Rev A C Dickson and Rev Bert Manaoing.
Residents from Moulton traveled to Yoakum to view an 80 foot, 68 ton whale on display by the Pacific Whaling Company of San Francisco. The monster weighed about 850 pounds at its heart and required around 8000 gallons of embalming fluid. A large sea elephant from the West coast of Mexico was also shown.
Work will start on the Cuero Yoakum concrete highway with more than 150 men employed. Seventy five workers from Yoakum and seventy five from Cuero will be hired. Each crew will work three days a week starting January 2.

Reginald Smith and Miss Marie Blanche Garner married in Lake Charles Louisiana on Monday December 26. The bride from Hall ettsville teaches at Sam and Will Moore Institute. the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs F C Smith. The couple lives in the Emil Grunwald home on West Second Street and the Eagle wishes them long happiness.
The general election on November 8, 1982 approved all proposed state constitution amendments. Ballots show votes for and against each measure including tax delinquency relief, centennial funds, UT permanent fund bonds, national guard voting, seawall taxes, property owner voting in bond elections, homestead tax exemption, and tax assessor duties. Strong entity counts include Texas, UT, and coastal towns.
John Culak a well known Baursville farmer died suddenly on Friday from heart failure. Burial was at Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Born February 5 1876 in Fayetteville he was 56 years 11 months and 5 days old. Survived by his widow and seven children.
