Imaginary Woes and Peculiar Proclamations Across Papers
A jumble of quotes cites humorous misprints and odd figures from Texas papers. References include a claim that most woes are imaginary, lost money after elections, insect‑driven crop losses, cotton ginned totals, and political quips about the Democratic party. Prices in Port Arthur range oddly with beef at 9.74 cents per pound and turkey at 97.50. Admiral Rojestvensky’s Far East reception is mocked by the claim trawlers will greet him.

The Ant and Boll Weevil Clash in Texas Lore
An essaylike critique portrays the Guatemala ant as overconfident yet ineffective against the boll weevil. It notes the weevil’s Texan adaptation and resilience, claiming the invader’s bravado collapses as the pest continues to prosper from the Rio Grande to the sea.
