Hallettsville Texas February 15 The Commissioners Court in regular session approved a $60 000 warrant issue to fund tick eradication efforts with warrants of $500 each due yearly through 1942 at 6 percent interest payable semi annually. A four cent tax on property value is levied to service the debt. Work will begin as soon as warrants are sold.
School notes announce the Lavaca County Interscholastic League meet at Shiner on Friday and Saturday March 10 and 11. Eight winners will be named in the literary contest at the Moulton opera house on Monday February 27. A prize list is being sought including a fountain pen or watch for the best boy declaimer and a toilet set for the best girl declaimer.
Local residents travel for family visits include Mrs Henry Mueller Mrs Otto Janzen and Mrs A M Kotzebue. The Dilworth four room school house opened with a program. Benjamin Herman christened at Catholic church. Vaughan Quartet entertained at the opera house in Jacksonville Texas.
