Highway 95 Right of Way Effort Faces Mixed Reply

The Highway Committee with Mayor Garbade and others met in Austin with the State Highway Commission seeking a right of way from Flatonia to Smithville. State engineer Gibb Gilchrist withdrew Fayette county action at Sen. Sulak's urging, noting no routing through Cistern and promising an inspection. A delegation from Smithville and Taylor attended along with local officials. the silver wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Gus Seims of Shiner was noted separately.

Mrs. Mike J. Koch Buried at Gonzales

Funeral services for Mrs. Mike J. Koch 80 were held in Gonzales on Wednesday February 6 with entombment in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Surviving are her husband Jim Robert Tinsley two daughters Mrs A P Cobb of Gonzales and Mrs Will G Lane of Lane City a son and several grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Relatives from here attending included Mr. and Mrs Ed O Arnim and daughter Ruth and Mr Lee Bunting.

The Moulton Water Works Company mandates a $1.50 monthly minimum for all users, garages pay $5.00, drug stores $3.00, and mechanical refrigerator users must install meters. Metered rates: 2000 gallons or less $1.50 minimum, next 8000 gallons at 40c per thousand, 10 000 to 50 000 at 30c, 50 000+ at 20c. Deposits, payment deadline, disconnection for 60 days arrears, $2 connection charge, and Secretary-Treasurer authority. Each consumer pays $1.50 minimum per month.

The U S dirigible Macon plunged into the ocean near San Francisco Tuesday night in a massive explosion that destroyed the craft. The crew were saved. Mr and Mrs Eugene Anders of Yoakum were in Moulton Tuesday on business and visiting relatives.

Texas schools receive $3 per capita apportionment

State Superintendent L. A. Woods announced an additional $3 per pupil payment on this year's scholastic apportionment of $1.50 bringing total remitted since September 1, 1934 to $7 per pupil. The $4,682,985 total is being distributed to 1,560,995 scholastics and includes 42 per capita paid on last year's deficit.
