Oil firm plans drill at Thompson place in Moulton

W T Miller of Houston president of Continental Oil and Coal Company is in town this week to arrange ground work for drilling on the Thompson place. E N Fleury of Houston has been in Moulton receiving stock applications and reports sales to many local residents including Kotzebue Guenther Graves Rebmet Bie hanko Kopecky Kotzebue Raab Fehrenkamp Krause Jilek and others. Forty-Two Party At The Johnson Home

A Forty two party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Johnson Tuesday night of last week. Attendees included Jim Weidel and family, Jessie and Shirley Lomax, Maggie and Myrtle Johnson, Una Gray, Mary Cooper, Annie Lee Wood, Zat Johnson, Raymond Gray, John and Anton Meyer, Raybe and V.K. Cruiss, Alfred Richter, Willie Charlie and Walter Hall, and J. L. Johnson and Zat Johnson, who won the most games. A crowd later enjoyed cake.

Shiner Route Three Community Summer Socials and Visits

Farmers report two weeks of dry weather and busy plowing in Shiner. Local residents and visitors attend dances and family gatherings at Shiner Rocky Site Park and Henk baus hall. Several families, including the Ermis and Krause clans, travel to nearby towns and share visits with relatives and friends.

Oak Grove Farmers Plant Corn Amid Social Visits

In Oak Grove several farmers plant corn as community activity. Miss Mary Wood, assistant teacher, spent weekend with Miss Elsie Linbruegger. Families from Breslau and Yoakum visited relatives, including Horak, Picha, Pavlas, and Wenske households. On Monday evening, Joe J. Horak and family called on Mr. and Mrs. Martin Boehm. The note closes with Tuesday February 10 1920.

Shiner Route Three Visit and Local Updates

Frank Krejci Sr and family hosted visitors including John Bevan Ed Batey and families and Mr and Mrs Joe Krejci. Willie Woehler is on the sick list with a wish for a quick recovery. Miss Clara Vana visited Miss Annie Krejci. Road improvements on the Moulton Shiner road show progress but more work is needed as of February 10 1920.

Funeral of Frank Broseman Noted in High Hill Cemetery

Otto Arnim of Runge attended the funeral of Frank Broseman, uncle of Miss Joan Guenther, with Miss Theresa Guenther also among attendees. Broseman, aged nine, was buried in High Hill cemetery last Tuesday.

Parr for County Attorney in Lavaca County Primary

The Eagle column announces W. E. Parr of Hallettsville as a candidate for Lavaca County Attorney in the Democratic primary. Parr, a local lawyer, served as superintendent of the Sam and Will Moore Institute, studied at Hallettsville High School Southwest Texas Normal School and the University of Texas, and served in the 344th Field Artillery in World War I.

Wedding Unites Wustenbart and Kortwig at Lutheran Church

A wedding was held Tuesday morning February 10 at the Lutheran church uniting Mr. Martin Wustenbart and Miss Erna Kortwig in marriage with Rev. H. A. Heineke conducting. Only immediate relatives attended and the couple plans to reside on the bride’s farm near Komensky after visiting relatives at Nagle Lake.

Death of William Kuehn at Yoakum in 76th year

William Kuehn died Wednesday February 4 after an eighteen month illness. The Ger man born resident of Yoakum aged 75 or 76 had his burial at Yoakum cemetery Thursday at four o clock. He leaves a wife and one son Richard Kuehn of San Antonio. Attending the funeral were William Hillmer Ernst Zimmermann August Kuehn Mrs. Louise Ammermann William Kuehn and Paul Ammermann.

Aviators entertain Moulton with joy rides over town

Kansas City aviators visited Moulton last week offering joy rides at 500 for children and 10 for adults with stunt flights ranging 5 to 15. Passengers included Edwin Jaeggli and several Rehmets among others. Flights reached 2400 feet and locals praised the view of Moulton from the sky.

Former Lieutenant Governor A. B. Davidson Dies in Cuero

A. B. Davidson, longtime South Texas public figure and former lieutenant governor, died February 4 in Cuero after a career in law and politics spanning Texas Senate terms. Funeral held February 5 at the family home, burial in Hillside Cemetery Cuero. Survived by wife and sister Mrs Luke Mankin of Taylor.

Bauraville Frauen Verein Reelects Officers at February Meeting

The Baursville Lutheran Frauen Verein held a Wednesday meeting with Misses Ida and Minnie Lueke. Old officers were reelected. Members enjoyed needlework and conversation, with refreshments served. The next gathering is planned with Mrs. B. Westerhoff on February 25.
