About eight miles above Bastrop on the Hemphill farm a buffalo skeleton was found standing erect in a river bluff. The bones rise twelve feet from the ground and twenty feet from the water, the river’s rise threatening a cave in the bluff.

A man calling himself Dan Horner was arrested at New Braunfels, charged with attempting to murder City Detective Newman in San Antonio on January 10. Sheriff W. A.
