Veterans of Foreign Wars distribute cigarettes to Texas hospital patients

The Veterans of Foreign Wars will distribute about 500000 tax exempt cigarettes to patients in 14 Texas hospitals including the Galveston Marine Hospital and Brooke General Hospital. Three cases go to Waco and Temple facilities. Auxiliary units will add 2076.35 in gifts.

Moulton Man Served Aboard Flagship In Korea Invasions

Robert S. Meyer quartermaster third class USN son of Mr and Mrs John L Meyer of Moulton Texas served aboard the Task Force Flagship USS McKinney during the Wonsan invasion in Korea. The Mount McKinley led UN amphibious landings at Pohang dong Inchon and served as command ship at Bikini Operation Crossroads in 1946.

Inch Rain Settles Dust in Moulton Area

The first rain of any consequence fell in the Moulton area in the early hours of last Thursday morning, about one inch. The long time dust nuisance was settled temporarily, though more rain is needed this winter.

First Baby For Milton Behlen

Mr and Mrs Milton Behlen of New Braunfels welcomed a 6 pound 6 ounce baby boy born at New Braunfels Hospital on Sunday December 17. The child will be named Glenn Alan. The mother is Eugenia Wagner of Moulton. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Frank C Wagner and Mr and Mrs Emil Behlen, with great grandparents Mr and Mrs Jos K Dari lek and Mrs Helen Behlen.

Texas 1950 crop estimates show large grain yields

The 1950 Texas crop outlook lists wheat 22,712,000 bushels corn 65,750,000 bushels oats 27,020,000 bushels rice 11,544,000 bushels grain sorghum 148,818,000 bushels. The figures reflect agricultural production projections by state authorities.

The Moulton B team lost 35 to 26 to Round Top Carmine in the same night. Svoboda led Moulton B with 8 points, Boehm added 5. For Round Top Carmine, Ziese scored 12 and Killough 10. Moulton A won 58 to 44 with Lockstedt 14 and Barta 13, while Jacob led the losers with 14 and Braber added 10.

Christmas Decorations Light Up Moulton Homes and Church

Moulton residents and businesses lit up for Christmas with festive displays. The Christmas tree lights and street intersections will be turned off January 2. A street scene at St Joseph's Church depicts the nativity with baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, shepherds, and animals. Sister Eunice and Rev. John Matocha erected the scene, with William Lee Young carving the figures.

Fourth Army Seeks About 200 Nurses Soon

The Fourth Army plans to bring roughly two hundred nurses into uniform in the next two months. State totals include Texas 115, Louisiana 50, Oklahoma 25, Arkansas 15, and New Mexico 5.

Infant Son Laid at Rest

Funeral services for Julius James Schaefer infant son of Mr and Mrs Lester Schaefer of Moulton were held at St Marys Church with Rev H Psencik officiating. Burial followed in St Marys Cemetery. He died December 17 in Wagner Hospital Shiner aged 8 months 11 days. He was born April 6 1950 in Shiner. Survived by parents and three brothers Lawrence Robert Eugene. Pallbearers were uncles Sgt P F Jalufka Hilton Schaefer Bennie Orsak Weldon Schaefer. Distances attended from Ft Campbell Ky Clute Houston San Antonio.

Bobkittens Lose 30-23 to Round Top Carmine Girls

The Moulton Bobkittens fell 30 to 23 at Round Top Carmine. Roselyn Kotzebue led Moulton with 12 points while Manados scored 11 for Round Top Carmine in the Wednesday night clash.

Navy Recruiter Chief Hanak will meet recruits in Moulton on January 4 1951 from 8 30 A M to 12 00 Noon to discuss expanded enlistment opportunities for men 17 to 31 with new relaxed dependency and physical requirements. The Lions Club Christmas Party at Pundt's Plate featured gifts games and musical numbers. the club reported $153 to charity and $135 to the Rippled Children's Recreational Center with donations due by February 1 1951.

Private Mikulencak Wounded in December Action

Pvt. Alfred B. Mikulencak, 30, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Mikulencak of near Moulton, is hospitalized at William Beaumont Army Hospital. He was wounded in the right leg on December 3 while serving with the 3rd Infantry Division after enlisting September 1, 1950.

Boys and Girls Sing Carols in Town

A group of girls and boys sang Christmas carols in town last week stopping at various places. They performed several selections at each stop and boosted Christmas spirit. The carolers were commonly rewarded with sweets for their efforts.
