The Moulton Volunteer Fire Department held its Christmas Family Night Social at the Catholic Gymnasium on Wednesday December 13. Officers were installed by Installing Officer Arnold Freytag. Firefighters and families enjoyed refreshments and food after the awards ceremony.

The Moulton School Board met in a special session November 15 with President Alvin Kocian and Supt. Thomas H. Hoyer present. Board members Leslie Haas Carl Henke Jimmy Holub Gene Selzer and Gus Targac attended along with Principal R. L. Orsak and Secretary Lexie Etlinger. The board approved the 1977-78 Audit Report by Auditor Fred Strauss. A regular meeting followed.
A 1978 Monza driven by Jeanene Demel of Austin and a 1973 Chevrolet driven by Herbert Haase of Moulton collided at the Arnim and Cockrill intersection on Saturday December 16 at 1 40 PM. No injuries reported. Medium damage extended to both vehicles.
No trash collection on Christmas and New Year holidays. Regular pickups resume on December 26, 1978, and January 2, 1979, with residents urged to place bags at curbside accordingly.
The Moulton Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture held its Annual Christmas Decorations Contest judged Monday November 18. Miss Moulton Marjorie Dennis presented trees to winners in Division I with first places for David Sim and James Kolar residences, second place Gus Fisbeck residence, and third John Meiser schlaeger residence.
A Christmas program of carols begins at 1130 p m Sunday night at St Josephs Church before the midnight Mass. Christmas Day Masses are at 830 a m and 1000 a m with confessions Thursday 530 630 p m Friday 600 700 p m Saturday 400 600 p m and 630 730 p m and Sunday morning before Masses. Father Schmidt invites all to celebrate the birth of Our Lord and wishes a Merry Christmas.
Santa Claus will personally visit homes in Moulton on Christmas Eve. For reservations call Mrs Dennis Barta at 596-4925 after 5 30 PM, no calls after December 23. Service is sponsored by the Moulton VFW.

Tandy Brands Inc on December 1 1978 purchased all assets of the Moulton boot factory, to be run as a division of Bona Allen Saddle and Leather Co. in Sweet Home and Yoakum. Norman L. Manning and Gene Velek lead the operation with key personnel staying, including Paul Mosier as Production Manager and Jerome Pavliska as Accountant.
City of Moulton council met in regular session December 11 1978 with all members present. Minutes of the prior meeting were approved. Bills totaling 4597.33 were approved for payment. Ordinance actions on swine bans broiler and feedlot restrictions were tabled to January. A trash burning ordinance was passed on first reading. Aldermen Hinze and Mosier were elected to represent Moulton at the Golden Crescent Council of Governments. An ordinance to preserve historic landmarks was discussed.
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Witting will hold a Holy Communion on Sunday December 24 at 10:00. Zion Lutheran Church in Moulton cancels morning services but begins Christmas Eve Vespers at 6:00 p.m. on December 24. Christmas Day service with Holy Communion at 10:00 a.m. on December 25.
Three fire trucks answered a Thursday night call to the Marvin Shimek residence when smoke in the chimney filled the room and activated the smoke alarm. There was no fire. The prior week’s report wrongly said one truck. three trucks responded to the Roy Miller residence.
