The Moulton Volunteer Fire Department held its annual Christmas Party at the Legion Home on December 8 with officer installations and awards. Santa visited, giving each child a goodie bag as families and guests enjoyed cold cuts, dips, chips, bread and sweets. Dennis Fishbeck served as Installing Officer.
The Moulton Volunteer Fire Dept warns residents to handle fireworks carefully as conditions are extremely dry to prevent fires. Citizens should keep Christmas trees fresh and moist and ensure artificial trees and decorations meet safety labels.
The Elementary School considers private piano lessons during school hours for grades 2 to 6. Tutor Mr Kenneth Fishbeck will teach two half hour sessions weekly at 2.50 dollars per lesson. Interested parties may contact Mr Kenneth Fishbeck at 596-7151.
A large crowd attended the Moulton Christmas Tree Program at the American Legion Hall after weather moved the event indoors. Santa arrived to greet children, distributing fruit and candy bundles and promising a return on Christmas Eve. The event is sponsored by Geier- Metrem Post 392 American Legion with co sponsors the Moulton Chamber of Commerce and Agri and the Moulton Knights of Columbus.
A very large crowd of VFW members and families gathered at the VFW Hall for a Christmas dinner and a Santa visit. Santa distributed sweets at 2 PM, followed by an appreciation dance from 3 to 8 PM with Adolph Hofner and His Pearl Wranglers performing while attendees from surrounding cities joined in.
The Praha Valley Saloon opened Friday December 10 with drinks snacks and a unique atmosphere. The restaurant opens Friday December 17 at 5 p.m. offering steaks seafood fried chicken and a self serve salad bar. Located in Praha on FM 1295 the 1860 building was previously the centennial Kountry Klub. Owners are Duke and Judy Beddingfield and Arnold and Alice Poth.
The judging for the Christmas Decorating Contest will start Thursday at 7 00 p m. Entrants must have decorations completed and lights on. All entry fees must be paid by judging time to be eligible.
The Old Moulton Baptist Church will hold services December 19 with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and preaching at 10:45 led by Brother Black. Everyone is cordially invited.
Mrs. Mary Jemelka of Shady Oak Nursing Home was taken to Shiner Hospital on Saturday. Mr. Martin Valigura, patient at Shiner Hospital since November 30, has returned to Shady Oak Nursing Home and is improving.
Patek's Drive-In Grocery greets shoppers at the corner of Highway 95 and FM Road 532 in Moulton. Ervin and spouse Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Patek invite the public to visit as the store offers low budget prices and specials featured on page ten of the issue.
Santa Claus will visit Moulton Hardware on Saturday December 18 from 9 to 12 in the morning. He invites all the children to come and visit and there will be candy for every youngster. Plan now to see Santa.
The Moulton Community Clinic Board met at City Hall with President Theo Motal presiding. All members attended. Minutes were approved, financial report given showing 10351 55 building expenses and 32991 61 in accounts. Vinyl wallpaper chosen for foyer and offices. colors coordinated by architect and painter. Edwin Darilek reported a doctor’s visit after building completion.
The Freshman Class of 1977 will hold a bake sale on the Bank Corner Saturday at 9 a.m. Profits support class activities. The event promises desserts and drinks for campus residents and visitors.
The Moulton City Council met in regular session with all members present and approved minutes and bills totaling 5426.47. They passed the second reading of the peddling and soliciting ordinance and named the Mayor as delegate to the Golden Crescent Council of Governments Board of Representatives. The body also approved City Hall roof repair and canopy painting.
A Social Security Office representative from Victoria will be at Moulton City Hall at 9 30 a m on Wednesday December 22 to help residents file retirement survivor disability or medicare benefit claims and answer questions about the program.
A combined Birthday and Christmas party was held at Shady Oak Nursing Home on Sunday December 12. Honorees received red carnation corsages and boutonnieres as they sat in the activity area. Ruth Allsup was also a birthday celebrant but a photo was unavailable.
Residents may call Mrs Dennis Barta for Santa Claus service at 596-4925 after 5 30 p m. Calls will not be accepted after December 23.
