Moulton High School band participates as Rev. Julius Holm of Zion Lutheran Church announces the arrival of Santa Claus. Students and community members gather for the festive program showcasing local music and holiday cheer.
Former Komensky area resident Marvin Cernik has been promoted to permanent full colonel in the Air Force Reserve. Senate confirmation on November 14, 1975 set the effective date. Cernik, a former EBHS Voc Ag teacher, has served with the State Department since 1959 and worked on population and family planning in India Nepal Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He has held reserve training assignments in Paris Stuttgart Washington and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He is a Texas A&M and UM graduate with multiple degrees.
The Gonzales market showed strength in calves with good and choice butchers calves at 30 to 38 dollars and stocker calves up to 39.60. Packer cows stayed steady from last week while bulls rose to strong. Hog trade remained active with tops around 50 dollars and sows 35 to 42.50, heavy hogs harder to move.

Mrs Cecilia Janak 62 of Wied community died Thursday at Citizens Memorial Hospital Victoria from injuries in a two vehicle crash on Highway 77 A 90 A two miles west of Hallettsville on November 5. Her husband Bohumil Janak 64 was killed instantly. Funeral from Kubena Funeral Home to St Marys Catholic Church Hallettsville with Mass at 10 a.m. Interment in St Marys Cemetery. Rosary was recited December 5 at 8:30 p.m. in the Kubena Funeral Home. She was born August 20 1913 in Lavaca County to Adolph Svetlik and the late Agnes Svetlik and was a member of St Marys Church and the KJZT Wied lodge. Surviving relatives listed include her father.
The Young Homemakers held a Christmas Party on Saturday December 6 starting at 8 p.m. at St Josephs Parish Hall. The hall featured traditional decorations with games and dancing to music. Seventeen members attended with their husbands one guest couple and Father Schmidt.

The Kittens defeated Smithville Tigerettes 47 35 as Liz Chaloupka led with 23 points. Donna Bohuslav added 32 in the later 83 33 win while Rhonda Maresh and Eunice Pavlicek also produced scoring and solid defense. The Kittens then beat Judson Rockets 44 42 to claim the Consolation trophy with Rhonda Maresh scoring 20 and Liz Chaloupka 17.
The Katz defeated the Smithville Tigers 72 to 59 at home with Harvey Selzer and James Neskora scoring 19 each. Randy Hoyer added 12 and Tommy Dornak 11 as Perry Kram, Dennis Pavlicek and Joe Maresh contributed the remaining points. The Tigers’ top scorers were Ingram and Frederick. The Katz J V team also won, rallying in the final quarter to beat Smithville 16 to 8 behind Darrell Rothbauer's 16 points.
The Varsity Kittens traveled to New Braunfels for the Canyon tournament and won the Consolation title Dec 4-6. They beat Boerne after a strong start while Jourdanton edged them 51-44 in the opener with Chaloupka scoring 16 and Bohuslav 15.
The Moulton Varsity Bobkatz won Consolation at the Brenham Tournament on Dec. 5-6. Belton halted Moulton 53 47 on Dec. 5 with Randy Hoyer scoring 13 and Harvey Selzer and James Neskora 14 each. On Dec. 6 Moulton beat Sealy 27 26 led by Harvey Selzer 10 and Randy Hoyer 9. Final game, Moulton 58 Burton 30 with Hoyer 18 and Selzer 10. Hoyer named to All Tournament team.
