Beaumont Texas December 12 Mr C Janks famed Galveston piano maker toured Beaumont seeking a site for a new piano factory to be erected with local capital. A meeting of the board of trade will be held soon to organize the piano company.
In Omaha on December 12 the Federal grand jury continued sessions at the Federal building. Eighty-two indictments have been reconsidered so far and more than 100 true bills are pending before the body.
In New Orleans on December 12 Michel Zilberman, a French soldier returning from Africa, killed Alfred Reed, a negro murderer, with Reed’s own pistol. Reed had killed a man on Dryades Street and hid in a feed box on Baronne Street. Zilberman, Alfred Pailet, and Reed’s victim’s daughter were involved when Reed fired. Zilberman grabbed the weapon and fired, ending the threat. Police had previously searched the scene for Reed.
Chekib Bey the Turkish minister filed with the state department an explanation from the Turkish foreign affairs minister. It claims United States Consul Davis tried to procure illegal immigration of a Turkish subject, then attacked and beat the Turkish police and boarded the steamer. State Department awaits completion of Leishman’s investigation.
Terrell Texas December 12 G W Monroe marketed here fifteen yearling hogs from a field of alfalfa used as hog range netting him 174 dollars.
J F Hill a farmer was thrown from his wagon in Tyler yesterday afternoon. The heavily loaded wagon passed over his body causing severe internal and external injuries. He was found unconscious and died from the injuries.

In Williamson, West Virginia, December 7, Miss Kate Roubough a telegraph operator at Thacker killed the outlaw William Howardson who had pursued her in the tower. Four shots were fired two hit the chest and he is mortally wounded. She notified a colleague by telegraph and surrendered to a magistrate.

A leading official said that starting January 1 1904 about 90 percent of United States Steel Corporation employers will reduce wages by 5 to 20 percent. The cut will affect about 150000 workers across subsidiary companies amid broader economic strain.
News reached Yoakum that F. M. Stafford was found dead in his Sour Lake bed yesterday morning. He had been working at Sour Lake for several months while his family stayed in Yoakum.
William P. Ennis, a former Brooklyn policeman, was executed in Sing Sing prison for the murder of his wife. Two electric chair applications were required. The crime occurred on January 14, 1902 at his mother in law’s Canarsie home.

In Morristown New Jersey Frank Becsa a Hungarian miner was captured after an all night chase over the mountains near the town. He is jailed on charges of killing Minnie Root the 10 year old daughter of R Root foreman of a nearby mine. Authorities report the case remains under investigation with details scarce.
The remains of Herbert Spencer were cremated at Hempstead with a small group of invited guests. Barnard Courney, M. P., delivered a brief address. An India gentleman present offered to donate 5000 dollars to endow a Spencer lectureship at Oxford.
Graham Texas December 15. Mr W W Mayes died from injuries after being thrown from a wagon by a runaway team last Thursday. A leading Murray County resident, he had lived in the county about twenty five years.
