State versus Jim Moore moved from Fannin to Grayson county and the jury found Moore guilty of second degree murder in December 1901 for the killing of Jay Johnson near Gober Fannin county. Defense counsel withdrew the motion for a new trial and Moore was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary.
About a dozen burglaries or attempts were reported overnight and this morning with no captures. A night watchman chased a suspect into the rear then front of Leo H Mothner’s store. the burglar broke plate glass and fled, leaving a blood trail.
A decomposed body found by hunters near Bonham Texas is believed to be Bud Evans. The body was in a cotton sack and placed under a bridge, suspected to have been there about six weeks. Evans left home six weeks ago and has not been heard from since. his parents struggle to identify the remains.
Word from Katy Texas dated December 1 reports Fritze Hamerling a Brookshire merchant died by suicide in his barn. Cause for the act is unknown.
In Dallas, on December 2, relatives identified Max Copplin of Fort Worth as the man killed on the Dallas and Oak Cliff Electric Railway. Copplin, a fruit dealer, was en route to Dallas to visit relatives. his burial is planned in Dallas tomorrow.
Houston street car workers declare a strike in a 3 a.m. meeting at Labor Hall after rejecting Manager Payne’s extension proposal. The unanimous action halts car service with 150 men idle until Boston managers receive their demands for a nine hour day and two-dollar pay rise.
Senator Hanna denied rumors he would resign from the Senate or from the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee. He pledged to serve his senate term and let the people decide on retirement. He will not retire from the RNC chairmanship until after the next convention, and will decide on acceptance if offered.

Albert Ethridge, 18, shot and killed John Kesner, owner of the Western hotel, in Pocahontas Illinois after a dispute over meat. Ethridge borrowed a gun, waited at a drug store with intent to shoot, and was captured by Citizens before Sheriff Wright took him into custody.

Greenville Texas December 1 Judge Connor overruled the motion for a new trial in the Jim Peddy case and Friday afternoon the defendant accepted a five year sentence in the penitentiary. This means there will be no appeal of the case.
In Marshall Texas yesterday at 4 30 a grocery store in West Marshall owned by Mc Noland was found burnt. The origin of the fire remains unknown and under investigation with the building reported as destroyed.
