Did Local Officers Arrest Moses Shelton
An affadavit states on August 6 1938 a fireman aboard train 354 witnessed three highway patrolmen arrest a barefoot colored man tied to a time of night search for a killer. The man was Moses Shelton of Hallettsville alleged to have killed Eva Mae Shelton Lizzie Ceasar and Chas A Williams. Sheriff Arthur McElroy and deputy Theo Long claim the arrest.
