FDA Waste $196000 Self Investigated By Agency
The FDA faced charges of wasting $196,000 on a self conducted study to prove its officials act in the public interest. Anita Johnson of Ralph Nader's Health Research Group led the critique, while HEW funds for a second review were noted. Questions remain about drug approval pressures and agency independence.

They urge periodic screening for high risk families and note other factors like asbestos exposure, smoking, alcohol use, race and income also matter.
