Funeral services for Anton Bratrich of Komensky were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Friday morning. Survivors include widow Annie Schaefer and six children. He died from injuries from a fall while repairing his barn after a long Lavaca county residence.
James Allison York who fought with General Sam Houston at San Jacinto and spent over seven decades near Sweet Home was reburied in the State Cemetery at Austin last week. He died around 1865 after returning to Lavaca County. his grave was found last year by the Lavaca County Centennial Board chaired by Mrs. Ella E. Lane of Shiner.
Welff and Batey weighers report 650 bales of new cotton marketed in Moulton by Wednesday night. Cotton opening rapidly due to extreme heat and dry conditions.

Mr and Mrs Charles Lucke with Mrs Leona Merrem and their son Malvin traveled to San Antonio on business Tuesday, the group connected with local affairs and planned further meetings.

Sub-Deb Club member Mrs Oto Fisbeck hosted a Bridge Club session on Tuesday evening. Several engaging games were played and refreshments featured chilled salmon salad, individual cherry pies, potato chips, saltines, olives, and iced tea.

The Moulton Volunteer Fire Department held its regular monthly meeting at the American Legion Hall. Officers reported training school results with Merrem scoring 85 in first aid and Darilek 100 in advanced work. The group plans an annual bazaar for fall and appointed a committee to arrange details.
County Judge Paul Fertsch has called an incorporation election for Moulton on Tuesday August 17 to adopt an aldermanic form of government. The vote will occur in the Farmers and Merchants State Bank directors' room with George von Lienen as presiding officer, authorized to appoint two judges and two clerks.

Fire of undetermined origin Saturday evening destroyed the large frame home of William Friedrich near Freyburg in Fayette County. Household goods were damaged and much of the property burned. Firemen from nearby towns combed the scene for remaining embers.
County Attorney William Allen, Justice of the Peace H W Strickler and Deputy Sheriff Theo Long of Hallettsville were in Moulton Tuesday morning.
The farm home of Albert Schoenfeld near Bauraville five miles east of town burned Tuesday morning. The fire started from a defective flue and spread rapidly. The Moulton Volunteer Fire Department arrived quickly and saved several stacks of feed, a large barn and several small outbuildings. some firefighters sustained painful burns while efforts saved most contents including furniture.
Eugene Wayne Herzik aged four months and fifteen days died Saturday after a brief illness in Schulenburg. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the parental home with the Catholic rites led by Rev Lea Goertz. Interment was in Schulenburg City Cemetery. The Eagle extends sympathy to the grieving parents and relatives.
American Legion post in Moulton will host its annual Legion Picnic at Herman Park on Sunday August 22. County Judge Paul H. Fersch of Hallettsville will explain the proposed constitutional amendments to be voted on at the August 23 special election.
